Our professors use the file feature on the info tab of the course instances pretty extensively. Several of the courses have dozens of files. Would it be possible to add folders to the file structure? That would allow better organization and clearer direction for the student.

@Jason - It might be helpful for them to make use of Lessons and break the files up that way.
I agree that folders for files on each course's Info tab would be a helpful option. One of the big ways our students and teachers use Populi as their LMS is sharing course-specific files. For us, the list of files is often very long and it is hard to read all of the file names to find what one is looking for. Most of the files that need to be shared are course-specific but not Lesson specific, so using the Lessons tab to split up files just makes them harder to find.
If changes to the Info tab are not practical, could a "Files" tab for each course be beneficial?
I've attached a screenshot from a course on Canvas, which seems to allow some of the features discussed here.
One additional enhancement we would love to see is the ability to change "visibility" for the files that are uploaded to the Course's info tab. We would like to save course documents like scans of attendance sheets, grading notes, and other administrative files for future reference, without making them visible to students.
We love using Populi to simplify our workflow and reduce our need for additional filing systems, and I think this would be one more great feature that would enhance our experience.

@Joel - Thanks for the feedback. There's definitely room for improvement with files in Populi.
By the way, you can already hide files from students on the Info tab. Just click on the file name to edit, check the "Hidden" box and click Save.

Yes, I think a folder option would really help with file organization. Hope this feature can be added asap.
It would be extremely helpful if a file option were added to the "Files" section under "Info" for each course. The reasoning is that this would allow a one-stop-shop for students to access all files associated with a course. Also, not all files are associated with Lessons, meaning that it would be confusing to create a "lesson" just to organize files...Please add the file organization feature - it would help our instructors out a lot.
I vote for this as well. We are currently using the Lessons feature to create sub-folders/files of Required and Suggested readings (article, book chapter, etc.) but it would be great to add those to the Files section on the Info page.

I agree that having a " folder" feature to organize tons of individual files is essential on the Info page -- for example, as the professor above mentioned, course files that are uploaded are not always tied to individual "lessons"; rather, they are often informational for the entire semester.
Please refer to other LMS platforms (e.g., Blackboard, where "Content Folders", with "Items" inside the individual folders can be easily created and posted). Students always know where to find those references throughout the semester, and this folder system minimizes confusion.
We all think that creating a "folder" feature in Info would be a terrific improvement to your platform. Is there a technical challenge to create this option?
