After I give a test on Moodle, I am able to see an overview analysis for all my students showing the following:
1) how long it took them to do the test. Moodle gives the start time, the finish time, and the amount of time taken to complete the test. This is valuable information for me as an instructor, because it lets me see who is struggling and who isn't at a glance.
2) that same chart shows me each student's grade, and how many points s/he received for each question on the test. This is valuable information for me as an instructor, because it lets me see if there are questions that are causing students trouble. I can then edit those questions to make them more understandable/fair/accurate measures of their learning.
Moodle also provides another chart which gives an even deeper detailed analysis of each item on the test. That is, for each question, I am given, on a chart able to be taken in with one glance, the following information:
1) the text of the question
2) the texts of all possible responses
3) the amount of credit for each possible response
4) the number of students who chose each possible response, expressed both as counts and as percentage; and the standard deviation.
Again, the beauty of Moodle is that I can access this information with just one click. With just one more click, I can preview the test as it appeared to my students, and with yet one more click I can edit the test, if necessary.
