One of our instructors (Terry Seamon) is a Walk Thru The Bible instructor and has been given permission, through purchase, to post a few video sermons through Populi to go along with the classes he teaches for us here at Charlotte Bible College & Seminary. His question is... "How can he post these sermons for the students in his class to watch but NOT to download to their personal computers?".

Files added to course lessons now have the option to have their download button hidden from students. Additionally, after adding files to the course syllabus or files section, the download button for those files can be hidden from students by clicking on the file, then clicking on the three vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner.
This is a very important function that Populi really needs to include -- especially as more and more colleges are moving to online formats. Instructors need to be able to post videos that students can view but not download. It's a matter of rights and licensing. The sooner this feature can be added, the better.

For example, video lectures and other online course materials that are owned by the college itself and that the college doesn't want distributed outside of classes.
I recently had a question from our faculty and our dean around this topic. We would like the ability to restrict the use of a file (audio, video, PDF, etc.) to the browser only, and be able to disable the ability for a student to download a copy of the file. At the moment, we can "Show embedded preview or media player if applicable" in the Lesson view. However, the file is still directly available on the right-hand side of the Lesson view, and is also available under the Files tab.
We could also disable the 'visibility' of the file, but then the student can't view it at all.
There are times where there is concern that a student could re-distribute course content without permission. For example, in our counseling courses where the content may be of a sensitive nature. Most times, this isn't an issue, but sometimes the content is sensitive enough that we need to protect both the content and our students from making poor decisions.
