Since we track custom info for students that can change over time (for example, a student's Denomination) it would be nice if student's could modify the data as needed. If a student currently "does the right thing" and actually does update their records when data changes, they can't update the Denomination field. Since our students are all in ministry, this could actually change over time and be out of date when it's time to report to the ABHE.
I would suggest that on a per-field basis we be able to specify that students can view their own, modify their own, and/or view as directory information (it would be nice for a student to be able to look for others who share their denomination, for example).
We could also store cohort data there, instead of as a tag, which could then make it searchable or at least viewable by students in the cohorts.
