Our online professors make frequent use of weekly discussion forums - where the professors assign specific grades for the post and for the replies. Since the students are not submitting a file, "Grade-Only" is the best assignment-type to use discussion forums. Unfortunately, Populi does not allow an option for the "assignment notes" to be visible to the students. Therefore, the students are in the dark regarding the reason they might have received a low grade - unless the professor takes the time to send the student a private email regarding his grade on a grade-only assignment.
Blackboard has a feature that enables professors to record a comment on any grade which the individual students can see. It would be great if Populi could incorporate this feature.
