Hi! Thanks for reviewing my suggestion!
I suggest that you allow people to come up with their own password without requiring extra letters or numbers or symbols. You know, like in the good old days, when people could use the password "password".
And then, let browsers automatically store user names and passwords so users don't have to type them in every time they visit the site.
Then, everyone can say that Populi is so great because they're not password nazis and they understand how frustrating it is to have to remember all your passwords to all the sites you use in one day, etc, etc, etc.
Then, with less frustration, the world will become a happier place. Israel and Palestine will stop fighting, North and South Korea will re-unite, and everyone will eat cake.

Brendan O'Donnell Don't forget the part where the Russian hackers ride off into the sunset with your personal data after having locked you out of your own user account and changing your ID photo to a porn ad.
Seriously, "password nazis"... ?

John Fiorello Lol
Yeah, the term nazis may be a little harsh... I don't know where I heard it first. Someone should come up with a better term :)
I get hacking, but if Amazon, IBM, Intel, Yahoo, Cisco, Google, Facebook, Microsoft, the IRS, and lately Evernote are getting hacked, how does the chosen password matter much? -
James Hi John,
We definitely understand the difficulty in remembering lots of passwords - in my line of work I have literally dozens to keep track of. However, the benefits of requiring decent passwords far outweigh the inconvenience... even with all the breaches at big companies you mention, the way most data gets lost is still through users choosing bad passwords.
Here's an article you might find interesting: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2012/11/born-to-be-breached-the-worst-passwords-are-still-the-most-common/
As a possible solution, I'd recommend a good password-management product like Keychain if you're on Mac, or on windows I've heard good things about 1Password. The idea is to just have one master passord to remember, and have that unlock and inject all your other passwords into your browser for you.
Cheers!
James

John Fiorello Thanks for the tip James, I'll definitely check those sites out. I've been trying to avoid using a service like that but I don't think I have much of a choice, my brain just can't keep up anymore... :)
