We have a few classes with 40+ students. Sometimes we have classes with 100+ students. Manually clicking a button designating "present," "absent," or "tardy" is very time consuming with large classes. It would be extremely helpful if we can utilize barcode technology to scan their ID card for their "name" and "time."

If Faculty can set a time for when students are considered "tardy" for their course, that would be extremely convenient. For example, if our Worship & Accountability course begins at 9:30AM, faculty can set a tardy as "15 minutes" after 9:30AM (or 15 minutes after 9:35AM) and students simply need to scan-in to determine accuracy.

  Students can now scan themselves in via the attendance kiosk. Simply go to the course->attendance->take attendance and click the "Start Attendance Kiosk" button. Please let us know if you have any questions!

  This feature would allow the teaching faculty to spend more class time actually instructing, instead of managing the attendance roster. For those courses with large attendance, the class time gained by having a scanned attendance feature would represent a significant percentage increase in instructional time. And all faculty want more instructional time!

  This would be a huge help for us right now. It's just not practical to call roll with a class of 50+ people. And passing a signin sheet around requires work on the back end and the possibility of students signing absent students in. I think this would make Populi more marketable to organizations with larger class sizes. Please let me know if this is something you're considering.

  Bar code tech would make things easier for students and faculty. I hope you'll add this feature.

  I agree.  We are going to start creating our Student IDs by exporting from Populi.  We would love to utilize the barcode that is generated when exporting a Populi ID card.

  The recent update to our iOS app allows teachers to take attendance using mobile device beacons that will allow for automated attendance taking for students with the Populi app on their mobile device. The app will then let you manually call roll for anyone who didn't check in via the beacon. Check it out and let us know how it goes.

  Barcode attendance would be absolutely awesome and an incredibly helpful feature. Thanks guys. The beacon system is pretty tough to get students on board with.

  The Populi mobile app is now available in the Google Play Store for Android as well.

  The iOS app unfortunately is not working as a solution for our attendance needs. Please look into other ways to go about taking attendance (the barcode method has been proposed several times here).
