here should be a separate instructional designer role to remove the faculty from building courses. In most online institutions faculty are content contributors, but not course builders. This is pretty much a standard in online education.

Christal Fehr As long as you don't remove what is there currently as our faculty are course builders :).

Russell Shouldice Hello folks,
We came across a use case for this role in our recent course production and publication work. The Populi development team encouraged me to share these thoughts...
I have a part-time employee who is responsible for producing (i.e. editing and mastering) course audio and video material for our online courses. I'd like to take it one step further with him and get him to upload the content to the courses themselves.
It seems like I have a couple options for granting this access. 1. Give him either Registrar or Academic Admin level access (might be too much for this employee at the moment). Or, 2. make him a faculty or teaching assistant. But then I will need to manage the classes he has access to.
Is there a role that is somewhere in between cart-blanche access and needing to grant access on a course-by-course basis for allowing file uploads to course lessons? It seems like this basic description of an Instructional Designer role would fit this need.
