Payment Plan's applied to Student Account rather than invoice

I met with the business office yesterday. It would be very helpful if we could set up a monthly payment plant by student account rather than by invoice.  Our school offers a number of payment plan options that overlap terms. For now, it appears we are required to manually enter each payment into the students account because payment plans are only set up for invoices rather than accounts.
