The "Transfer" system tag is applied to a student with any amount of transfer credit. This designation is too common and unspecific, is not generally useful in our circumstances, and confusing to the faculty who are primarily interested in knowing whether a student has previously attended another post-secondary school. We are working around this with an additional tag, but that means that there are double tags for all actual transfer students. If the automatic system tagging functionality could be turned off with a system setting, that would eliminate this issue.

Mark Ackerman Official comment You can now designate whether or not specific contact organizations that students receive transfer credit from should result in whether or not the student is considered a transfer student. (I really should run that sentence past our technical writer first.) That new functionality along with the ability to mark whether or not a student is considered a transfer student at the student-program level should be able to accommodate all cases where a school might not want the transfer tag to apply.
