The discussion formatting options are great, and discussions in general work really well. But for certain courses -- math and computer science -- the formatting is actually causing some confusion. Here's an example from a faculty member, who was attempting to post a correction of a computer science text: " . . . the author of the book wrote math.sqrt(x*2+y*2) which is wrong. Then I posted the correct expression math.sqrt(x**2+y**2) which of course got changed to math.sqrt(x*2+y*2) when I hit enter - the same wrong expression the author wrote." Escape characters -- with which CS faculty would be perfectly comfortable -- could help a lot here.
Related to this, when students in CS courses want to share code in a space-dependent language like Python, they're unable to do so except by attaching files. Fortunately, you guys have made attaching files super easy. But we'd also love the option to keep that whitespace in the discussion posts.
