Admissions Dashboard Percentages

I was talking with our Admissions Director today, and he lamented one major regression due to the "new" Admissions format. Previously, the dashboard would show what percentage of a student's application had been accepted, but now it's based on what the student has submitted. The issue here is that if a student has requested their references and transcripts, but we haven't received them, they still show as 100%.

Adding a second column would be clunky, but what about changing the method used to calculate the percentage based on the application status? That way, the percentage reflects the progress toward the next stage. For example:

Applications that are In Progress: Percentage based on how many questions the applicant has submitted (i.e. the percentage of an in-progress application shows how much work the applicant has left to do on their part)

Applications that are Submitted: Percentage calculated based on how many components have been accepted out of total components (i.e. what we're waiting for a response from--either from admissions committee, transcript evaluation, references to come in, etc.).

He says being able to more precisely pinpoint what's holding up an applicant from that overview would really help their workflow.
