The current process is that the student has to have passed the prerequisite class and have it on their transcript prior to registering for the next class. This however becomes problematic and time consuming to use the work around. Our situation is there is a class 1 and a class 2 several times in our program options. Class 1 is a prereq. for class 2. Most often both classes take place in the same quarter therefore the student would not have class 1 completed and posted in their transcripts prior to registering for class 2.
I propose that class 2 be made available for the student to register for if they have registered for class 1 as well. If they have not registered for or completed class 1 then class 2 would not be available for them to register.
I am sure that we are not the only college that faces this. For us this takes place no less than 4 times per year and as we continue to grow, enrolling more and more students, using the work around will become increasingly time consuming and a hassle for our staff as well as our students.
