Direct Links to Uploaded Files

I have been building a completely online course using Populi and have found the Uploaded Files function somewhat frustrating. When I upload a file under the "Files" section of a Lesson (or in the Info tab), it then offers me an embed code (which is fine if that's what you want) but it does not offer a direct link to that file. As I create lessons, I would like to give students a direct link to the file in the lesson itself. But I have found no way to do this. i'm surprised that you provide embed code but not also a direct url link.
