Ability to format text content in tests

I'm trying to write a test where I need to some information for students to refer too and need it to be in columns.  I can't get columns even by spacing using the space bar.  Would like the capacity to format the text within the heading/text and in questions (even the basics like bold, underline available in this post would be helpful).
