As more and more documentation on students comes in electronic form, it would be helpful if a custom student or admissions field could hold multiple files. Thus, a field called "Transcripts" could hold more than one undergraduate transcript (from different institutions), "Transfers" could hold multiple documents, "References" could hold multiple letters, etc. I could see a use for this to hold progress reports and assessments that don't belong to one particular course.

There is the option for multiple files in admissions fields, but for some reason the application form does not allow multiple files. As Thomas mentioned, it is common for students to need to upload more than one file.
We actually added multiple file uploading to file type custom fields last month. Sorry we didn't mark this completed!
