Combine smaller terms into a larger term

Consider how to combine smaller sub-terms into a semester term for financial reasons. Our online program is set-up on 5-week sub-terms. Students take 1 class at a time...4 in a row equals their semester. However, for issues like enrollment verification, semester billing, tuition schedules, etc., the sub terms need to combine into a semester.

This would be a great benefit to those schools that use an accelerated format for their online school. Otherwise, none of the auto features work correctly.

If I could identify 4 sub terms that combine to make a semester, then I think it would work. But that presents the larger issue in that the semesters keep changing...one starts at September, another at October, etc. as new cohorts launch.

I have a similar issue, about 80% of our on-ground students take online classes (which have their own terms called MODS). This becomes problematic when tying tuition tables because once the tuition table is tied to the student, it looks at the Traditional term and not the online MOD (different word for term). Since our full-time students have a flat rate and are not billed on per unit basis, the tuition table pulls only the Traditional term charges and disregards the MOD because it is considered a different term taken at the same time which then gives the student a wrong amount due.

To fix it, I need to go into every student's billing account, subtract the amount currently invoiced and add a charge to equal the flat rate amount. Since registration fluctuates throughout the months leading up to the semester start, it is possible to have multiple adjustments in one day's time. Please help, I believe this will be beneficial to multiple schools as Christopher Dickerson mentioned.
