Option for making pending transfers inactive

Pending transfers in our institution include transfers that the registrar has processed based on an unofficial transcript or where a student is required to complete a certain number of residence credits prior to approval of said transfers. Occasionally we process transfers for a student, mark them as pending and then for whatever reason the student doesn't complete the necessary steps to transition those pending transfers to approved before exiting the school. So now we have a long list of pending transfers that we need to keep on record in case the student decides to return but will never transition to approved until they return and complete the requirements. It would be nice to make those pending transfers 'inactive' so that they could be filtered out and would not appear on the alert list, perhaps by linking the status of transfers to the status of the student so that when a student is made inactive their pending transfers would also be made inactive until the time which they reentered.
