Certain operations would be easier if certain hyperlinks automatically opened in new tabs in the Internet browser, leaving the existing Populi page unchanged.
For instance, almost any time I click a link in a list or report from Contacts > People, Contacts > Organizations, Admissions > Leads, Admissions > Applications, Academics > Academic Term > Students, Academics > Reporting > Enrollments, or the Data Slicer, I'm also going to want to open other results from the same list. Instead of needing to do multiple clicks to open new tabs, it would be preferable to make "open link in new tab" the default behavior for a left-click. This works well for Google Maps' hyperlinks to websites listed on organization previews.
Regarding results from the search box, the ideal might be to keep the current settings if I open the search box from a page on an individual profile or an organization profile - in those cases, I'm probably done with the current profile and ready to move on to the next thing. But if I'm on an administrative page such as the Dashboard or one of the screens listed above, opening in a new tab would probably be the preferable default behavior. I may end up needing to manually close more tabs this way, but I would also be less likely to accidentally leave a page prematurely and forget to go back and finish what I was doing.
I don't know if it's even possible to change the default behavior for the clicking of hyperlinks, or if it can work differently depending on the origin screen. Just dreaming.
