Checklist visible for students to see whats missing

I created an Academic List by going to Academics > Settings > Student Fields and added check boxes for SEMINARY ACCEPTANCE REQUIREMENTS. However, I've noticed that students can only see the items that are checked. I would like them to see the entire checklist, including what’s missing. Is there something I can do to achieve this?
