Communications Custom Field Template Variables

It would be nice to create templates communications for a student using variables about the 

For instance, as a Christian college, we will communicate with the pastor of a student. Ideally, we could send a form letter using variables such as "Pastor's name"? The information is on the student's profile, but there currently is not a way to make that happen.

Other applications of expanding the template variables would be that schools would be able to efficiently create personalized, parent communications with ease.

  More variables, in general, would be helpful. Such as first initial, last initial or username. That way we could put email addresses on ID cards for example.

  Yes!  I'm just trying to do this now with a custom student ID#.  But, since I can't add that as a variable, I'll need to send to each student individually.

  Right on Andy!  We definitely need custom variables. I can think of a literal ton of use cases; but I really can't think of one more pressing than student ID. It's almost unthinkable to me that one doesn't already exist.

  Agreed, more variables would allow customization that doesn't require us to manually customize information. Could most fields for students be added from the Info and student tab?

  Adding in the desire for custom fields attached to students to be available as variable choices in templates, 5 years later ...
