Update the Look of Populi to Make it Look More Contemporary

I love the intuitive nature of Populi and its structure. 

However, when one logs in, it doesn't look so pretty. I suggest you overhaul the look of populi to make it look more contemporary.

Some people at our institution have suggested that we consider a different LMS for this very reason. Students have high expectations of how their online experience looks, and Populi is starting to look a little dated.

Unfortunately, I don't have any specific suggestions since I'm not a design expert. But, I suspect people who work with Populi would have some ideas, as your https://populi.co/ web page looks more contemporary than the LMS itself.

  I agree.  The functionality of Populi is first rate.  The aesthetic side is very weak.

  @Andrew, Christopher - Glad to hear you are having good experiences with Populi's design and functionality. With regard to the look and feel side we are definitely in the form-following-function camp, but we also want Populi to be a place where it's pleasant to spend the time you need to spend to get done whatever it is you need to do in Populi.

  That said, we do make fairly regular tweaks to the interface to keep it in line with current conventions. For example, in just the past few months we've updated all the icons, and fonts among other things. We've found that making more subtle changes over time seems to go over better than more significant overhauls which a lot of our users find disruptive. Sometimes those are necessary, of course, but we want to make sure that the benefits of those changes outweigh the cost of asking people to re-learn an interface they rely on.

  I hope that gives you a decent idea of where we are coming from on this. If you have specific examples of areas where you feel there's room for improvement please do pass those along; we're always looking to improve Populi for our (awesome) customers.

  Good points.  My concern is mostly with the lessons in the LMS side of things.  It's pretty hard to make things look really good with the simple text box that we're given to work with there.

  I actually have found the simplicity of Populi to be very helpful from a UX perspective.
