Attendance -- Tracking To-The-Minute Attendance

Our course is under the auspices of an organization which requires 90% attendance. Tardy students are supposed to be tracked in 5 or 10 minute increments if they are late (a student 13 minutes late, for instance, might be marked 15 minutes tardy).

It would be great to have a feature for when you click that a student is tardy, that there might be a drop down menu which has a choice for *how* tardy they are. If a lecture session is two hours long, it isn't so helpful to just check "tardy" without knowing how tardy. A student who misses the first five minutes is not missing an equal amount of lecture as a student who is one hour tardy.

Is this possible? Even having the possibility of tracking 15 minute increments would be helpful.

  This would be great for students who arrive late and/or leave early, and the instructor can record the number of minutes/hours they missed of the class.
  
  It would also be great to have the option leave a note next to each student to give more information about a tardy or absence.

  We need this feature as well - we need to show how tardy a student actually is.

  I have updated the title of this Feature Request to generalize it more for recording to-the-minute attendance, rather than just having more flexibility on how tardy a student is.

  We also need this feature.  We are a "clock hour" program and are required to track student attendance by the minute.

  We REALLY need this too. I can't believe this isn't already there in Populi, we've had that in all our previous systems and is a core part of our course achievement policy. It's a major setback to have to manually compute for each student and each class how much of a course they missed... we just need a new numeric field in minutes next to the Present/Absent/Tardy/Excused radio buttons, in the class attendance menu. It's the teacher's duty to write down how much of a meeting was missed by each student, but then it should be automatically computed towards a total number of missed hours/minutes in a class for each student, and counted against a courses' total missable hours in % of the total number of hours in the course (which is 20% in our case except 10% or 0% in a few exception courses). Please let us know ASAP when this basic feature will be implemented in Populi.
