Could you add a way for students to submit multiple files in an assignment in the main submissions section? The same would also be helpful for faculty uploads in grading assignments.
I know they can always add more files in the comments section, but this is problematic because about 1/3 of our assignments require multiple files.
In addition, faculty often overlook files submitted in the comments section.
@Andrew - I'm not sure I understand the distinction you are making between "main submissions section" and "comments section." All student assignment file uploads are added via one interface which can be used to make a comment/ask a question, upload a file, or both. All file uploads appear in the feed of comments which is below the document viewer (which shows up if the document can be rendered).
Perhaps you are looking for the ability to require multiple files? Or to upload multiple files simultaneously?
Let me know if you'd like to revise this request. As it is currently written I don't know what additional functionality we could add that would make it more complete than it is now.
As faculty, when I click on Enter grads, it only lets me upload one file there. I can submit another comment with another file, but that causes students to miss the original attachment.
As a student, I believe the problem is the same. It only lets the student upload one file, and then they have to submit multiple comments. The result is as a faculty, it is really difficult to identify what assignments I should be grading. Student complain repeatedly and we have to explain that they can upload another file in another comment. It is just not usable if so many students are having the same problem.
@Andrew - It sounds like you'd like the ability to upload multiple files simultaneously without having to do multiple submissions. Is that correct?
I guess so, but honestly it goes beyond that. The problem is that for many assignments the files should be grouped together both in submitting and in reviewing. Otherwise the usability is crazy it is difficult for students and faculty to know which files to review.
@Andrew - So perhaps something where you can require multiple file submissions with different descriptions. If I was trying to do that now, I might try splitting the assignment into parts (multiple file upload assignments) so each submission would be under Part A, Part B, etc.
In an accounting course, if I required 4 homework problems to be submitted for 1 chapter assignment and grading event, and they are designed by the author in separate Excel files, can they all be submitted to 1 grading area?
I have the same question / concern: I have students who have 3 separate parts to their assignment, for example Part1.doc, Part 2.PNG, and Part 3.PPT. They can't combine them easily without losing the fidelity of the PPT document in a static PDF that mashes all three docs together.
I don't want to make three separate assignments, just one assignment where they can drop all three documents at once.
