It's currently very hard for our developers to prep discussions in online courses for facilitators because Populi automatically gives the developer ownership of the discussion if the developer is the one who sets it up. Every semester we work around that and ask facilitators to get involved, but it is never easy to have that many hands in the process. It would be nice if either the default owner would be the faculty assigned to the course, or if developers could select who the owner should be.

Toby Robinson Official comment - You can set discussion author to any faculty or yourself in the add discussion dialog
- You can edit the author of faculty added discussion to be any faculty or yourself
- Users with edit permissions can edit discussions even after student comments are posted
- Discussion actions are in a new dropdown

Adam Sentz @Carlos - If you add the discussions via course cloning you can choose an author from the course's faculty.

Evan Donovan @Adam, where is the link to update the assignments in mass for this?

Carlos Campa We noticed that it is possible to work around it like that, but if there is a teacher change once the course has been developed and prepped, you have to clone and reclone back to change the discussion owner based on the new teacher, which overwrites all of our work on due dates, availability windows, autograde settings, etc.

Adam Sentz Evan Donovan - Not sure I understand your question.
Sounds like, in generally, what y'all really want/need is the ability to change the author to any of the course's faculty. Does that sum it up?

Evan Donovan Yes, if there is an easy way to do that after a course is created for all the discussions that is all I would want. Thanks!
