We would like to be able to alter prerequisites on the term level. Right now prereqs have to be determined in the course catalog and this works most of the time but there are situations where a course may have a different or additional prereq. For example, we offer courses both on campus and online. BIB302 has a prereq of BIB102 but when it's offered online the student must also have completed ONL099 Orientation to Online Education. Currently, we either have to remember to check that prereq by hand or we have to create entirely new catalog listing for all the online courses which creates a number of ripples. There may also be times when a course might be limited in enrollment so only certain classifications of students can take it (seniors, for example).

Dan Wells We have a similar need for something like this. Our issue is that we offer the same course at times to two different programs (MDiv and ThM). The course content is essentially the same, but the ThM students complete some extra work and receive 3 credits rather than 2. It seems (to us) best overall to treat them as different sections of the same course, but we we have no means of restricting enrollment in the separate sections to the appropriate students. We would like the ability to somehow restrict enrollment of specific sections or course offerings to specific students, whether that would be by program or something else.
As Dr. Beemer mentions, creating an entirely new course can solve this issue, but not without "ripples". We have a lot of experience with these ripples and would prefer to avoid them if possible. Thank you!
