I LOVE LOVE LOVE rubric, with one exception. Where is there a 240 character limit on the comments? Criticisms of academic papers over require more wording to convey nuance. Can this be bumped up to 800 character?

Adam Sentz @Kirk - The thinking is that the those comments are restricted to the particular criteria while you can use the assignment feedback section for longer general comments. We put limits on the amount of text that can be put into any area of the rubric to try to keep them manageable.

Kirk Fatool I get that. But academics are wordy :-) So getting down to a tweet's worth on a single subject, even on a rubric, is tricky. Especially since most of our rubrics are general. For example, one is to "accurately describe the history of the case." Sometimes a lot of nuance (i.e. words) are required in explaining how a grade was arrived at.
However, I like your suggestion of putting longer comments on the assignment.

Jeff Bakos Increasing the character count on rubric criteria comments would be great. Kirk is correct, academics can be wordy. If the rubric is the primary way of grading an assignment, which it is in many cases, then having more room for comments would be appreciated. For instance, in a preaching class that we teach, one of the criteria is on presentation. It's difficult to give feedback on presentation limited to only 240 characters.
