I am building a set of courses in Populi for a program we are hoping to submit for accreditation. As with most instructional design and development, you learn things as you go and as the professor adjusts to the uniqueness of the LMS.
I find myself repeatedly having to use 4-6 mouse clicks to edit one element of each lesson. For instance, each course has 15 weeks. Originally the professor labeled the Unit Learning Objectives as Student Learning Objectives for the Unit (way too wordy and boring). But that nomenclature copied over to the course with the template I created to put the lesson structure into the blank course instance.
Now I am taking 5 mouse clicks to change each week's lesson in the term (75 clicks for one course just for one item).
- Click Lessons to bring up the Lessons list
- Click the Lesson to edit
- Click Design to go into design mode
- Click the edit tool for the Heading I need to edit
- Paste the revised text (don't type it every time, to save a little time)
- Click Save
- Rinse and repeat 15 times for one course
I have had other repetitious edits like this in the courses as I encountered certain things.
I just wonder if might be possible to click design and expose the entire lesson as editable elements. Then any item in the lesson could be edited in the same design window at the same time.
I'm picturing a similar layout to when we can edit assignment groups and assignments simultaneously. That saves significant time in adjusting grades, weights, names, as we work through adjustments in the assignments.
Just a thought.
In the meantime, I'm back to the 75 clicks for the next course.
