For easier navigation for students, I would like an option to put headings into lessons, to break up the overwhelming list. The heading option would be non-clickable, to organize lessons. I am including an example from Canvas of what I mean. This would also allow for ease in students finding specific lesson resources versus scrolling down through entire lessons.

Rachel Bomze - I'm not sure exactly how your'e envisioning this in Populi. This looks like a list of Lessons where you can click the title to expand and see their constituent sections. In Populi you have, at the top level, a list of Lessons. Then inside the Lesson you have a list of Pages to organize and or gate the content contained within that lesson. What do you mean by, "the overwhelming list?" Sounds like maybe you're just using one Page per lesson?
