We have an attendance team responsible for taking attendance for the various courses. The challenge we are having is that we have to give them the 'teaching assistant' role for all courses in order to allow them to take attendance. This role gives them full access to the course's gradebook, roster, etc. It would be very helpful for us to have an 'attendance' role that would only allow attendance taking.
Also, several non-teaching staff members are requesting read access to course lessons. In order to accomplish this, we are assigning them the 'teaching assistant' role. As I mentioned above, this gives them much more than read-only access, but I don't see another way to give them just the lesson visibility.
It is also difficult for students to differentiate who the 'real' teaching assistants are in the course syllabus because of the number of people we are assigning that role too.
