Have heard from a few students that the on-screen timer adds stress while testing, While the low tech solution of a post-it note is effective, being able to turn it off would be a nice feature too.

Toby Robinson Official comment There is now an option to hide the timer when taking a test.

Daniel Tidwell-Davis I would like to see this feature as well. Specifically it's an Accessibility/Disabilities Service concern. For students with documented disability plans and accommodations around mental health diagnoses, learning disabilities and neurodiversity, the countdown timer can range from being a distraction from focus on the test, to invoking anxiety that compounds existing symptoms adding undue barriers for these students. When I reached out to support I was told that instructors could work around this by adding an exception to remove the timer, which would remove the time limit on the test, and that they could then limit the availability of the test to act as a timer, however that also means that if a student logs in 5 minutes late, they now have less time to complete the test.
If it's possible to add a layer with a black box that students could toggle on or off, this would allow those who need to to turn it off, while still being able to check the time if they would like to.

Adam Sentz Daniel Tidwell-Davis - Tests are always limited to their availability, but fortunately you can add an exception to this as well. So you can give them an exception so they have no time limit (apart from availability) and then extended the availability with an exception if that is also needed.

Daniel Tidwell-Davis Yeah, I know that's an option. However, there are times when it's appropriate to have a timed exam without having to have a countdown clock required to be within the student's field of vision. This is very different than the experience of students testing in a physical classroom, and seems like an easy enough fix by adding a basic feature to the populi platform.
