It was explained to me by a Populi Support representative that Credit Hour Activity is calculated automatically based on the following:
...if part of a course falls outside the reporting period only part (proportional to the part of the course that is within the reporting period) of the credits count towards the total. That is not reflected in the underlying data export, but will be reflected in the report itself.
Under the section Part B - 12 Month Instructional Activity, the total Credit Hour Activity for shows the adjusted number. However, the underlying data shows the total of credits for all courses offered at any point in the reporting period, without any indication as to what portion of credits are being counted from each course, and the sum of which differs greatly from the adjusted number.
I would like to have evidence included to support the numbers that we are reporting to IPEDS, and I can appreciate the extensive calculation that this would require by hand (and it is very cool that Populi does this for us)!
My request is that you please include additional columns in the Underlying Data Report (or at least within the .xls export) which indicate the following:
- adjusted number of credits counted from each course
- start/end dates of each course
- percentage of time that each course falls within the reporting period
Thank you for your consideration!
