Well, we learned the hard way that if a pre-req for one class is waived or exempted on the degree audit that it doesn't unlock the course that is next in the curriculum.
I really wish this worked (if course = passed, waived, exempted then course requested = unlocked). The fact that it doesn't honestly seems like an oversight in what should be basic functionality.
Nate Cameron - Treating waived courses differently than passed courses is by design. Assuming a waived course means the student meets the pre-req 100% of the time is probably too broad. Since you are making an exception on the course requirement you also have to make an exception on the course registration (by manually allowing them into the course). It might be handy to be able to specify that the waived course should also be treated as meeting pre-reqs; that's something we can consider.
Another thing that might work would be to use a zero-credit transfer course to let Populi know that the student has effectively passed the required course.
We use waivers when students test out of our intro class. It has messed up our self enrollment consistently and we would also love to have the ability to mark a waived class as meeting the pre-reqs!
Adrianna- we use waivers the same way and we always run into issues during the pre-registration period. I end up having to manually enroll students in classes because the waiver does not let them bypass the pre-requisite. It works for now, but it will not be sustainable as we continue to grow.
Yes, I wish this worked as well. Currently I can waive a course for someone but after that I must enroll them in courses. They cannot enroll themselves, that is a problem.
