Turn Off Course Cloning Meeting Times

How do I turn course cloning for meeting times off for faculty!??!?!? As the registrar, I have set the new semester meeting times for all of the courses. But now, every time one of the faculty members clones their course, it changes the meeting times without notifying me! Students have been unable to sign up for classes because a meeting time has been changed to a conflict when a conflict did not exist!

Also, since we use the Google calendar events created by Populi to schedule Zoom Room meetings for our classes, if one is changed, it deletes the current meeting calendar event including the Zoom meeting!

I realize this is a convenient upgrade for some, but it has just made my life as the registrar very difficult!

  We have added a setting that you can toggle to prevent faculty from cloning over meeting times. Academics > Settings > General > Allow Faculty to Manage Course Meeting Times. Thanks!

  Benjamin Olson - Cloning meeting times is optional when cloning a course, and the option is not checked by default. All faculty need to do is not check that option when cloning and you should be all set.

  However, if a faculty member selects "check all" and is unaware of the feature, it is selected automatically. This has now happened three times at our school. As the registrar, I do not even want them to have the ability to accidentally change the meeting time or the day for their class. In what schools are teachers creating times and days for their own classes? At most colleges, this is usually set for them by the registrar.

  I have sent an email to my faculty warning them of this feature, but I cannot be assured that it will not happen.

  We have just run into this as well. We are trying to go "undo" all of the cloned meeting times where faculty missed unchecking the box and altered the fall schedule. Where can I see the original meeting time of the course before the clone occured?

  Yes. Very bad!! Instructors should not be able to clone meeting times. Some of my preparatory work was wiped out. I had to do it all over again. I only discovered it because of a student enquiry. Fortunately it came to light quite a few days ago. I can only imagine the difficulty this could pose for a larger institution. At the very least, the Populi admin ought to be able to toggle said powers on and off.

  Yes, this feature is really useful to allow the Registrar to set up the new term, but does not work when faculty or other user roles have access.

  We had a similar problem.  Horrible feature change.  Apparently made in January but we just ran into this fall with faculty cloning courses.  Faculty can also change their own meeting times and locations.  Not good when you have a central office determining locations and meetings times.  Is there a "master switch" we can use to turn off this feature?

  This continues to be a problem. You need to remove the ability for Faculty to clone the course times.

  YES!! A thousand times yes. Please turn off this functionality. It has caused so many scheduling issues this semester. It is not needed. All meeting times are scheduled by the registrars office so there is not a need for the faculty to clone a meeting time.

  It's a problem for us too. The ability to check that particular box should be disabled for anyone without Registrar or Academic Admin roles.

  Thank you so, so much! Just a suggestion, but this feature should be defaulted to off, and allow registrars to turn it on if they want it. But this will help greatly!
