Hi! Thanks for some of the updates to Populi. Things look sharper, less cluttered, but I miss the navigation bar. The drop-down menu adds time to basic navigation. It's not just clicks, I have to find the item I want, move the mouse around, etc. Next to the drop-down menu is blank space where the individual selections used to be (courses, advising, etc.). Why not use this space to keep the menus where they were so that navigation is quicker, easier, and more convenient? I wouldn't clutter things up too bad; plus, it would save lots of time cumulatively. Please give immediate, one-click selections for common navigation destinations. Thanks!

Adam Sentz Isaiah Allen - Along with the updated nav menu we added the ability to navigate to pretty much everywhere in Populi without using the mouse at all (zero clicks!). Just use the Search hotkey to focus Search and then start typing where you want to go and it should pop up pretty quickly. If you want to get around quickly ... this is the way.

Isaiah Allen Oh, shucks. Well, thank you for the quick response! How does one use the keyboard hotkeys to do such things? CTRL+F doesn't get me to "courses," for instance, and the search bar in the middle of Populi doesn't bring me anywhere without moving the mouse, plus clicking in the field, plus typing, plus arrow keys to select (or clicking to select). That's slower, not faster.

Adam Sentz Isaiah Allen - If you look at the Search box you'll see the hotkey for your system displayed on the right side. For macOS it's Cmd+k and everywhere else Ctrl+k. Press the hotkey and start typing the desired page title then press down arrow to select it and enter/return to go there. It was not previously possible to get around Populi as quickly as you can with this system (once you learn to use it!).
We made a video that goes over all the major changes in case you'd find that helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9muXNOG2tR0

Tommy Wagner While I appreciate the hotkey option, the fact is that most of this website is navigated by the mouse. So it's not really as elegant a solution as it sounds, in my opinion. Ctrl+k isn't even a hotkey I can easily press without either awkwardly moving my left hand to the other side of the keyboard or removing my right hand from the mouse entirely. In the end, this dropdown menu and switching to the keyboard just to go to a different page are both equally inconvenient compared to how it was before this update—where I could just rely on having something in the same place every time that I can quickly flick my mouse to many times over and over again.
