iPhone app feedback: inactive back arrow and confusing menu navigation
Hi Populi team,
I’m a new Master of Technology Policy student at the RAND School, and I wanted to flag a confusing navigation flow in the iPhone app.
On the Dashboard/home screen, the back arrow in the upper-left corner doesn’t appear to do anything when I tap it. To open the main navigation, I have to tap the three-line menu icon in the bottom-right corner, which then opens a panel from the left.
I’ve figured out how to open the menu, but the combination of an apparently inactive back button and a menu control in the opposite corner was confusing as a new user. I’ve attached two screenshots showing the controls and the panel that opens.
Could you confirm whether the back arrow’s behavior is intentional and share this with whoever owns the mobile app’s product/design? If there is nowhere to go back to from the dashboard, hiding or visibly disabling the arrow would make that clearer. Labeling the bottom-right control “Menu,” or using an explicit menu button in the upper-left position instead of a back arrow, might also make navigation easier to discover.
I’d appreciate knowing whether this can be logged as a bug or usability improvement, and whether there’s a ticket or feature-request link I can follow.
Thanks,
Adil Minocherhomjee
