When an instructor has an alert based on a student's attendance, there is currently no way to acknowledge it and clear it.
This is annoying because, from the Home screen, instructors don't know what the alert is until they click it. It fosters ignoring alerts, which I am trying to train instructors not to do.
Please add a way to acknowledge and clear this alert, or just do away with it. My instructors don't need it.

A new setting has been added to Academics -> Settings -> Grades & Attendance that allows you to alert faculty or not.
Being unable to read and clear alerts on the home page is unbelievably annoying. I am halfway through the semester and I have a student failing for non-attendance. My home page shows an alert, which I have already seen. But now every time I log on to Populi, I am going to see that alert, and be unable to clear it. I have no idea when there will be a new alert, only that there is an alert. This is unnecessarily frustrating. Please create a feature that allows us to acknowledge and clear alerts.
I wish I could upvote that comment more than just once. I have heard the same frustration from many of my instructors.
When you have a student filling for nonattendance in the middle of the term do they typically continue to attend the course? How do you handle it?
Yes, the students typically continue to attend the course. They might be able to excuse some of the absences, or make them up in other ways. But there is no reason the instructors need to be alerted about it. The instructors will continue to teach them the same as the students who are not failing for non-attendance. The only one who really needs attendance alerts is the registrar, me.
Adam Sentz Very often, yes, they continue to take the course. They are free to do so. But, as Michael has indicated, I don't need to have that alert sitting there every single time I open Populi for the rest of the semester, especially when the alert doesn't tell me WHAT the alert is, only that there is one. So I have no idea if the alert means that a student has uploaded a new file or comment, or if it's just the alert that a student is failing for non-attendance. I agree also with Michael that this particular alert basically has nothing to do with me, but with the registrar. All other alerts are cleared when I act on them, but I cannot act on this particular alert to clear it, and, honestly, seeing that alert sitting there drives me nuts and stresses me out.

I just had two instructors comment on how frustrating this is. They see the alert, click it, and they can't clear it. It makes them less likely to investigate alerts. What's the status of this request, please?
