Export/display faculty names as 'Populi Name'

We have some graduate students who are also teaching classes as faculty, and who use preferred names. Unfortunately their legal names appear in the courses, and therefore also in the course data exports and on student transcripts, which is causing issues and confusion. Is it possible to have 'Populi Name' be the field that shows for faculty names on courses?
