@Ric - Here is that same page with Start date only selected and again with End date only selected. Are you seeing something different?

@Ric - It looks like you still have test availability set to Date range. You can now also choose Start date only or End date only by clicking the Settings button.

@Michael - Perhaps you could add an Inactive Volunteer tag to inactive volunteers and exclude it on your mailing lists?
