What can my students see after a course has ended?

After you have finalized your course (or an individual student), they'll still be able to access the course in particular ways. Here's the run-down:

  • First things first: the course must remain Published. As course faculty, this particular setting is out of your hands, but that's the basic fact: for any student to have any kind of access to a course, it must be Published.
  • Finalized students will no longer be able to interact with the course: participate in discussions, submit assignments, take tests, et. al.
  • They will be able to view assignments they've submitted together with grades and comments.
  • Additionally, tests will let them see grades and comments, as well as any feedback that is still available.
  • Any discussions—graded or not—under the Available and Closed headings can be read.
  • They'll be able to review lessons they've started (up to the point to which they've progressed) or completed.
  • Just like when the course was in session, they'll be able to view a list of their classmates on the roster.
  • As for other items—Syllabus, Calendar, Chat, etc.—they'll be able to view anything that has been publicly posted.
  • Things are a little bit different for incomplete students. Read about them in this article.
