Saundra Ashby - If you get the embed code from the Share menu, and then paste that in to the source code editor in a news article it should embed. I tested embedding you video via this method and it worked for me. If you need further assistance with this please reach out to Populi Support via a support request.
Yes, the method mentioned by Adam works for me as well. However, there is a "deeper issue" here, I believe. It's the comfortable level of faculty (and others) with embed codes and switches to a source code editor which displays HTML. For those who feel fairly comfortable with tech, they don't mind to copy & paste an embed code. And if they see some HTML on their screen in the process, it is no big deal.
However, for others they hesitate, or are even somewhat scared, to do that. Copying & pasting a simple URL is familiar enough to pretty much everyone. But to many "source code editors" sound like a place that only computer programmers should go, lest something bad happen. I myself feel comfortable enough going into a source code editor. I know that some of my colleagues would definitely not want to go there. And yet they may well need to produce Loom vidoes for their faculty work.
All this to say, that if Populi can make Loom URLs auto-embed like Youtube URLs that would be very good, esp for not-so-techy faculty members. With the surge toward online education due to COVID, using quick & easy video-making services like Loom is going to continue to grow. Please make the threshold for inserting Loom videos as low as possible for your users. Thanks!
I wholeheartedly support Jason's comment above!
