Adam Sentz Official comment This is currently not technically possible in the regions Populi sends text messages: the USA and Canada.

Tallahassee Christian College -Jackie It would be useful to have a template for texting with our school name to identify the text.

Amanda Davidson I also would like to add my name and organization to the list of schools requesting that the Text Messaging Option to come from Institution name so it's recognizable. Currently it just show up as our "personal Populi" phone number. Students are not responding. Which makes us wonder if they are even opening the message or assuming that it is spam.

Amanda Davidson Adam- Quick question, peoples numbers show up associated with their numbers all the time. So technically speaking it is possible. Are you referring to Populi not having the ability to technically do this? When it comes in it looks like spam... Especially for those that are no longer current students and have outstanding balances. I wouldn't trust the link to open it either... I sign it every time with my name and official title. But unless you open the text you will never see that part. I've started adding our school name on the top line. But that makes me lose even more characters in the message I have to send.

Adam Sentz Amanda Davidson - Alphanumeric Sender IDs are not supported for text messaging via 10DLC in the USA and Canada. It may be possible to do branded text messaging via RCS in the (hopefully near) future.

Amanda Davidson Adam Sentz Thank you so much for taking the time to explain why it isn't currently possible. I really appreciate it. Hopefully we will hear soon about the branded text messaging via RCS. If you hear any updates please let me know.

James Hi Amanda,
We've done some more research on RCS and apparently it costs several hundred dollars per month per sender just to get onto the network, and then each text message is also much more expensive than traditional SMS.
It also takes longer to get verified and the verification process is more intrusive. The benefit would be you could have a verified name/logo as part of your conversations with applicants/students/etc, and send videos, nicer URLs, etc. RCS apparently does boost engagement quite a bit in some cases.
Since Populi would obviously have to pass these much higher costs along to our clients if we ever offer RCS as an option, is that even something colleges like yours would be interested in?
