Link Assignment / Test due dates and availability dates

Greetings,

Is it possible to link the availability date for an assignment / quiz / test with the due date. We have had a couple of professors change the due date for an assignment / test in the "Assignment" area, but in the "Test" section it is still showing the old availability date. Professors can go in and grant exceptions for students, but once a test is past its availability date then it "disappears" for the student, even though the due date for the test may have been extended. Even if there was a way to edit the availability date in the "Test" section, then this would be a tremendous help. If you have any questions, then please let me know.

  Hello,

  It seems confusing to have the "due date" and "availability" set up as the same date.  Can they be unlinked?  The date my weekly assignment/ lessons/discussions become "available" to students is not the same date the work is "due."  However, it appears that way and it is confusing to some of my students.  Should I be inputting my assignments differently?

  Also my Week 2 assignment is showing up now (at least on my screen) as "available, though it should not be available to students until Sept. 17.  And, in fact, the "assignment" page indicates that it will not be available until Sept. 17.  Are the students seeing this?  Is it, in fact, "available."  It's rather confusing.  Thanks for your help!
