Currently a "grade only" assignment (and tests too?) does not allow me to give a student comments via Populi (so I have to e-mail the comments to them). It would be nice to be able to give them their grades and comments all in once place.
Having said this, I still very much like the private 'notes' I can write for each assignment. So, perhaps you could allow us to have BOTH private notes, as well as "comments" that we share with the student for their assignments (even if they don't submit a file for the assignment).
