Adam Sentz @Sam - If you create a mailing list that includes those people you'll be able to see who doesn't have a primary email address.

Sam Horowitz Sure, it's possible in this case to export (with email address), download the Excel file, then analyze it. If there's 43, no problem. If there are a few hundred, then it's a little more of a problem. I'm just saying a simple banner or alert "Warning: the following people were selected for email, but have no primary email address:"? I know it's not necessarily simple to implement, I'm just relaying a way the current system would work better for the people using it.
On that note, creating a mailing list from the hypothetical scenario shows everybody has an address, so I guess I'm going to open a support ticket on this as well.

Sam Horowitz So it turns out that the issue in this case is two users have opted not to receive email. The only way to discover that is:
- try to send the email, notice the discrepancy of numbers
- download XLS file, notice that everybody has an address listed
- compare the email recipient list 15 names at a time to the original table or XLS file
- find the missing name(s), click, select Info, and notice the "do not mail" flag
