Attendance for non-standard terms/classes

We have a number of classes on the graduate level that are taught as modules - meeting one week for five days with an additional 30 days beyond the end of the sessions to complete course work.  We need a way to mark attendance for the five days, only.  The current system requires the instructor to mark attendance for the following 30 days in order for the percentages to not be skewed.  We also have some modules that meet one day a month for five months.  This, too, creates an issue with attendance because the instructor has to mark attendance every week of the month for five months, even if the class is not meeting.

A suggestion would be to have an option similar to the appointments in Outlook.  Once the appointment is set, I can choose for it to re-occur every day, week, month, etc. and can also choose an end date.

  @Ann - Only meetings where attendance was recorded count in the final attendance percentage for a course. So if you have a meeting on the schedule, but the class isn't actually meeting you can just skip taking attendance and the attendance percentage will accurately reflect the attendance that has been recorded.

  A little late maybe, but I would like to add another possible help.

  All meeting times are displayed on the calendar and thus will show up on a student's and Faculty's homepage for upcoming events.  So in the case of no class meeting, faculty skipping the attendance will insure that the attendance is calculated as Adam has stated.  However, the student will have the event show up as upcoming on their homepage.  To avoid the student being told of an upcoming class meeting time, when there is no class, you need to go to the calendar and delete the meeting time.  Depending on the number of classes scheduled that are not meeting this can take some time, but it does help clear the calendar for students. (Also clears the Faculty section as when they take attendance any deleted times will no longer show for attendance taking.)

  We have weekend module classes and students and faculty sometimes get confused as to when they occur.  By using the delete feature in the calendar, I am able to modify the meeting times to only show for the weekends where there is a class.
