Please make the new "viewer" (in the assignment submission area) able to show the comments made in the sidebar of a MSWord document. I use the commenting feature of MSWord when I grade students work, but student can NOT see those comments in the viewer. They can however see text that I add using "track changes" (including their final grade). I worry that students will be lazy and simply scroll to the bottom of the viewer to see their final grade, but that they won't download the file to open it and see all of the constructive comments I made throughout their assignment to help them improve.
Currently I have to tell my students: "Please do not use Populi's online "viewer" to view your graded assignments as you will not be able to see the comments I made in your assignment file using the MSWord commenting feature. Rather, please download the file and then open it to see all of the comments I made regarding your assignment. Thanks!"
