Now that active user students have access to their financial tab, they are seeing an up to the minute balances on their dashboard and increased the volume of questions we receive.
They sometimes find the balance displayed to be a bit misleading when pending aid is not accounted for in the balance due. For instance, Jacob Blankinship's record is showing that $594.00 if overdue, but this is only because an Army payment for his tuition has not yet come through. We don't control when the timing of when Army payments arrive, but don't want the student to think he is responsible for that balance.
Would it be possible get a term by term ledger, similar to the dashboard, to display in the "By Term" section of the Financial Tab? This might give them a better idea of what their out of pocket cost (or credit balance) they can expect.
As of now, it displays Pending Aid for the term, Invoices for the term, and payments applied for the term in separate sections. I think they would be more inclined to trust the projection if they saw the math displayed directly.
Alternatively, if there was any resource on the dashboard to inform students how pending aid will affect their balance, that would also be helpful.
