Self-Check Function for Library Module

We would love to be able to offer self-checkout for students through the Library module. (For students who are checking out books after hours)

  I agree. We are going to use Populi's library features, and I'd be extremely pleased if self-checkout mode could be enabled. I believe there's already one for the bookstore, so it wouldn't require too much effort.

  Sasha Matthews - Sort of. We have developed (but not yet released for a few reasons) a kiosk interface for a different part of Populi. So, in theory, we have laid some of the groundwork, but we haven't technically moved forward with library self-checkout.

  Adam Sentz Is this still the case? I am wondering what is required for self-check to work. Will this be a feature in Populi or something that pairs with a self-check station bought from a third-party vendor? Is that possible? I have heard mention that the LMS must work with SIP or SIP2. Does Populi? Thank you for your help.

  Bethany Herrod - No updates since the last time I posted here. If we were going to implement something it would probably just be a web-app that you could run in-browser on a device with a USB scanner. This is how the attendance kiosk (what I was referencing previously) works. Populi doesn't utilize SIP at this time.

  Just to note that our library would also love a self-checkout feature or at least to be able to use another cloud-based self-checkout that is based on SIP.

  Yes! I'll add my voice to the chorus requesting that students/staff be able to do self-checkout for library resources (our library is not staffed regularly). Adam Sentz - any suggested workaround to not having a self-checkout function?

  I run our college's library and having a self check-out option would be a HUGE asset for us.

  A self-checkout option would be great! 
  Right now, students are just writing their name, date, and book barcodes on paper when the library is not staffed, and we input the books when we are in. It would save time for everyone if they could check them out themselves.
