Course Evaluation Improvements (Average Rating)

The Course Evaluations have been very helpful but they are very difficult to interpret.

Specifically, it would be enormously helpful to have an “average rating” column at the end of any likert scale question. I have attached an example from Survey Monkey and a screenshot of our Eval from Populi. Ideally the average rating number would not count any N/A selections.

What the average rating would do is give us a single number that we could use to compare teachers’ ratings to one another, and course ratings between semesters. Right now we are going through manually to try to come up with averages based on what percentage of students chose 5/5 for questions like “Would you recommend this instructor?” It is very tedious and not very accurate, since this method does not account for the other ratings in the scale.

Any other enhancements that would help toward interpreting the overall results of Course Evals would be much appreciated.
